Bekah Spurgeon is a choreographer, and dance educator known for her dynamic movement, versatility and thought provoking work. At the young age of 8, she gained artistic development beyond the classroom, performing both locally and abroad with Arts Evangelica. She continued to train extensively in ballet, contemporary, jazz and hip hop from faculty of The Greensboro Ballet, North Carolina School of the Arts, Edge Performing Arts Center, Broadway Dance Center, Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre, & Alonzo King Lines Ballet. Bekah received a scholarship and training from the American Dance Festival at Duke University, danced professionally for the NBA, and holds a degree in Dance and Theatre from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. Bekah has performed with multiple dance theater companies in Los Angeles, CA and was featured on "One Tree Hill", industrials for Sony, and Nintendo Wii's Dance Dance Revolution. Bekah's versatile experience in dance education, theatre performance, and commercial work aids her in creating memorable choreography for dance companies, dance teams/studios, pageants, and brand representation.
Bekah is most interested in using dance as a tool to strategically pursue hearts and strengthen identity in youth. She and her husband had the opportunity to live as missionaries in 10 different countries where she experienced the art of dance operating as a universal language across many borders. Bekah currently works as a choreographer both locally and nationally and is the founder and director of Generation Movemeant (GenMove), a Dance Mentorship program designed to train, build and equip young women in 6th-12th grade to live with purpose. She lives in Greenville, SC with her adventurous husband and two incredible children. They enjoy the freedom of homeschooling, outdoor adventures and visiting National Parks.
